De Beers-Blood Diamonds
Caption: [UNVERIFIED CONTENT] A big symbolic red paintball is splattered on a window at De Beers, the diamond seller. The supposed significance is the controversial practise they engage in to extract some of their diamonds known as 'Blood Diamonds' (diamonds mined in war zones to finance insurgencies or warlords). This was taken on the afternoon of March 26, 2011 in Mayfair, Central London during a big anti-austerity demonstration. You can see protesters with placards reflected in the window. Breakaway protesters and anarchists vandalised several businesses along the route that were deemed to be iconic symbols of opulence or globalisation.
