Mostar 20 Years After The Siege That Destroyed A City During The Bosnian War

MOSTAR, BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA - JUNE 26: A derelict building near the now called Spansky Square on June 26, 2013 in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Siege of Mostar began in 1992 during the Bosnian War with the Croatian Defence Council (HVO) and the 4th Corps of the ARBiH fighting against the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA). It reached its peak in 1993 during the Croat-Bosniak Conflict as Croats and Bosnian Muslims began to fight amongst each other as a result of the Karadordevo and Graz agreements. Mostar, dating back over four hundred years, was mostly destroyed through the fighting. Although reconstruction has slowly commenced in the last decades, evidence of the war remains in bullet ravaged buildings still standing throughout the city. (Photo by Marco Secchi/Getty Images)
