Founded in 2004, the Vafa Animal Shelter is the first of its kind in Iran which is dedicated to providing help and shelter for injured and homeless animals in Iran. The Vafa shelter is a non-government charity organization relying solely on private donations and volunteers. The shelter is run by a group of devoted volunteers and caring veterinarians who donate their time and services for the well being of these dogs. The shelter is currently home to over 600 dogs.
