According to the organizers, the biennial festivity gathers some 1,500 participants from the 82 kingdoms and sultanates across the archipelago from the Sultanate of Yogyakarta, including Balis royal houses to Bau Bau in South Sulawesi, and sultanates in neighboring Selangor state in Malaysia. Officials aim to promote the festival to showcase Indonesias rich history and tradition that is rooted to once powerful kingdoms and sultanates during the early centuries. The four-day festival includes discussions on preserving the culture and heritage of the country's dwindling nobility, a trade EXPO and exhibition of antiquities and highlights of the grand royal parade.
