Farooq Abdullah Arrives For A Campaign Rally In Tangmarg

TANGMARG, KASHMIR - SEPTEMBER 13: Jammu and Kashmir's Chief Minister and National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah arrives for a campaign rally September 13, 2002 in Tangmarg, India. The large security contingent is present as all politicians in the upcoming 4-round state election are under serious threat from Pakistani and Kashmiri militants. The militants want the Indian administered state elections boycotted. A number of the 160 candidates inthefirstround have been threatened, shot and killed since the elections were announced three months ago. A 20-30 percent voter turnout would be considered a success by the Indian government. Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah's ruling National Conference party will benefit from the boycott.
