Hundreds of Letters From Noted Japanese Writers to Chinese Author Found
BEIJING, CHINA - MARCH 24: A letter sent to Zhou Zuoren from Junichiro Tanizaki is seen on March 24, 2015 in Beijing, China. More than 1,500 letters addressed to Zhou Zuoren (1885-1967), himself a famous writer in China who studied in Japan more than a century ago, have been uncovered. During his time in Japan, Zhou befriended a large number of literary figures, as demonstrated by the wide range of people who wrote to him after he returned to his homeland.
The letters were found by family members and include missives by Toson Shimazaki (1872-1943), Saneatsu Mushanokoji (1885-1976) and Junichiro Tanizaki (1886-1965). (Photo by The Asahi Shimbun via Getty Images)
