SYRIA-CONFLICT
Syrian men inspect the site of a reported Syrian government forces barrel bomb attack in the northern city of Aleppo on September 27, 2014 which killed at least one child. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, at least 180,000 people have been killed since the beginning of the Syrian conflict in March 2011. Barrel bombs are typically constructed from large oil drums, gas cylinders or water tanks, filled with high explosives and scrap metal to enhance fragmentation.
