The Iceland's patrol vessel Tyr arrives on February 6, 2015 in the port of Pozzallo in Sicily. Iceland is participating in the Frontex Joint Operation Triton in the south eastern Mediterranean. Equipment for Operation Triton has been pledged by several countries including Finland, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal and non-EU member Iceland. Frontex is the agency of the European Union (EU) that manages the cooperation between national border guards that is undertaken to secure the external borders of the union, including from illegal immigration, human trafficking and terrorist infiltration.
