Glastonbury Festival Takes Year Off As UK Prepares To Host London 2012 Olympics

GLASTONBURY, ENGLAND - JUNE 20: A track passes through fields which would normally be used for camping at the Glastonbury Festival site at Worthy Farm, Pilton on June 20, 2012 near Glastonbury, England. Today would have been the day that the gates would have opened for what has become Europe's biggest music festival, but because of the London 2012 Olympics it was decided by the organisers to take this year off. However, this week it was announced that the festival - which started in 1970 when several hundred festival-goers paid 1 GBP to watch Marc Bolan and has now attracts more than 175,000 people over five days - will feature in a mosh-pit style tribute in the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games. The Festival will return in June 2013. (Photo by Matt Cardy/Getty Images)
