Noah Gordon Is Widely Read And Honored-- Just Not Here

DEDHAM, MA - APRIL 1: Twenty eight years ago, Worcester, Mass. native Noah Gordon, now 88 and living at NewBridge on the Charles in Dedham, Mass., wrote "The Physician," a medieval medical adventure tale that sprawls from England to Persia. Worldwide, "The Physician" has sold 20 million copies. But thanks in part to a New York editor's decision to change jobs, it failed to receive support from his US publisher and the book never really took off here. The novel was recently made into a feature-length film, which made its American debut with a DVD release in March 2015, and Netflix plans to begin streaming it this summer.
