Admiral Lord Louis Mountbatten, the First Earl of Burma, was the Supreme Allied Commander for Southeast Asia during World War Two. Under his command, Allied forces successfully recaptured Burma from the Japanese. After the war, he held the post of Viceroy of India and negotiated the transfer of power to the new, independant nations of India and Pakistan.
