The studio was built in a converted barn on a 4,000 acre ranch by producer James William Guercio in 1972. Throughout the 1970s, rock music's biggest acts, including Elton John, Chicago, Earth Wind and Fire, Joe Walsh, Michael Jackson, and The Beach Boys traveled to the rustic Rocky Mountains setting and recorded hit albums in the legendary Caribou Ranch studios.
