San Bushmen's Hoodia Remedy for Obesity
David Kruiper, traditional leader of the iKhomani San Bushmen of the Kalahari, sorts his bag of ostrich parts which he and his family make crafts from. Their precarious survival might be substantially improved if current attempts by Phytopharm UK succeed to develop an anti-obesity drug from the San's traditional appetite suppressant cactus, the Hoodia. The San will receive royalties from sales of Hoodia, based on the transfer of their intellectual property. (Photo by Louise Gubb/Corbis via Getty Images)
