MIDEAST-SIX-DAY WAR

Destroyed tank and train are seen on the road in the Sinai Peninsula, in June 1967 during the six-day war. On 05 June 1967, Israel launched preemptive attacks against Egypt and Syria. In just six days, Israel occupied the Gaza Strip and the Sinai peninsula of Egypt, the Golan Heights of Syria, and the West Bank and Arab sector of East Jerusalem (both under Jordanian rule), thereby giving the conflict the name of the Six-Day War. / AFP PHOTO / Pierre GUILLAUD (Photo credit should read PIERRE GUILLAUD/AFP via Getty Images)
