Protesters Hanging an Effigy of Marvin Griffin
Georgia Governor Marvin Griffin is hung in effigy at the State Capitol in Atlanta as some 2,000 Georgia Tech students riot in anger over the Governor's efforts to prevent Tech from playing in the Sugar Bowl against the University of Pittsburgh, which has a black player. The State Board of Regents then reversed itself and authorized Tech to participate in the game.
