NEW YORK, NY - Huguette Clark owned half the 12th floor of 907
NEW YORK, NY - Huguette Clark owned half the 12th floor of 907 Fifth Avenue and all of the 8th floor, a total of three apartments, with a view overlooking Central Park. But she hadn't lived there for decades. She spent the last 20 years of her life in a hospital room in New York, even though she was not sick. She preferred the security and seclusion of the hospital. Here staff was under orders to keep the apartments in good condition. They were filled with her valuable paintings, and her multi-million-dollar collection of dolls. These pictures show the facade that faces west and overlooks Central Park, which is right across Fifth Avenue from the apartment (you can see the sign, 5th Ave. and 72nd St.) So Huguette's 12th-floor quarters would be at the top in these fotos, and one of her 8th-floor apartments would be below that. There were two apartments per floor, and her other 8th floor apartment faced the other direction. (Photo by David Montgomery/The Washington Post via Getty Images)
