The Killing Fields Of Cambodia
406126 06: (FEATURE - CAMBODIA's KILLING FIELDS - 6 OF 12) Human skulls are on display at the Choeung Ek Genocide Memorial June 1, 2002 outside Phnom Penh, Cambodia. the remains of nearly 9,000 men, women and children have been excavated at the killing fields of Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge regime, a site where several thousand move victims are believed to be buried. As a reminder of those killed after extensive torture at the Toul Sleng prison, pieces of clothing and bones are scattered throughout the killing fields, left alone rather than cleaned up. The United Nations recently abandoned plans to bring to justice the men responsible for the two million people killed by Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge, leaving the Genocide memorial the only closure on a dark period of Cambodian history.
