India emerging as a world leader in Wind Energy January 11, 2010 Kudankulam, Tirunelveli district, Tamil Nadu, India Asia's largest wind energy farm, the Sanganeri Wind Farm near Muppandal that has over 5000 wind turbine generators is located on the southern tip of India, generating about 4000 MW of electricity. Wind power accounts for 6% of India's total installed capacity for generating electricity and India is the 5 th largest wind energy producer in the world, with Suzlon Enegy Limited being a world leader in the manufacture of wind turbines. India has a total capacity of generating 45,000 Megawatts of wind power. Asia's single largest wind turbine generator that produces 2.1 MW is also located in this wind farm.
