India has said some 10,327 people died in the tsunamis that ravaged its southern shorelines and far-flung Andaman and Nicobar Islands 26 December 2004, some 5,628 people are still missing and feared dead. The worst-affected state was Tamil Nadu which recorded 7,968 dead with Nagapattinam accounting for 6,053 deaths.
