NEW DELHI, INDIA: Indian Sikh widows and relatives of Sikh men who were killed in the 1984 riots, shout anti-government slogans during a demonstration near parliament in New Delhi, 12 August 2005, as Sikhs protest against the findings of the Nanavati Commission. Indian minister, Jagdish Tytler and influential Congress MP, Sajjan Kumar quit their posts as the government faced street protests and pressure to prosecute politicians linked to the carnage. According to official figures, 2,732 Sikhs were massacred, largely on the streets of India's capital New Delhi, after former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was gunned down 31 October 1984, by her two Sikh bodyguards.
