Somerset Maugham in Declining Years

(Original Caption) 10/9/1961- London, England: Will help struggling writers- Now 87, thin and tired, popular English storyteller W.Somerset Maugham, tells the press he will leave his wealth to struggling authors when he dies. Maugham plans to spin out the rest of his days at the Dorchester Hotel here in London where he is shown sitting wearing a smoking jacket and at a desk writing. Maughams' estate will go to a special fund to be administered by the Incorporated Society Of Authors, PLaywrights and Composers.
