Lured from her own, her native home, the home of early life, and doom'd in stranger realms to roam; a widow! Yet a wife! - Phillips's Lament', circa 1820. Satirical cartoon showing Caroline of Brunswick travelling to England to marry the Prince Regent (future King George IV). She is helped into a boat named 'The Hag of Jersey' by Frances Villiers, Countess of Jersey, who was one of the Prince's mistresses and was also Caroline's Lady of the Bedchamber. Caroline and the Prince were married in in 1795.
