Macy'S And Gimbles Price War

(Original Caption) 5/29/1951-New York: Macy's sales girl Margaret Scholz is busy changing prices on house hold articles as the second price slash for May 29th goes in to effect. Possible buyers seem to be awaiting another cut or two before making a purchase. Macy's department store's move to slash prices 6 percent on 5,978 items previously "Price fixed" brought Gimble Brothers to announce: "Nobody but nobody undersells Gimbles." and by mid afternoon Macy's again cut its retail prices.
