A Native American woman from the Hualapa

A Native American woman from the Hualapai Dancers performs during a blessing on the newly opened Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge which spans the Colorado River, beside the Hoover Dam on the border of Arizona and Nevada, October 14, 2010. Construction on the nearly 2,000-foot-long (609-foot) bridge began in late January 2005 and the bridge spans the Black Canyon (south of the Hoover Dam) and rises nearly 900 feet (274 meters) above the Colorado River. As a consequence of the heightened security following the September 11, 2001 attacks, truck traffic over the Hoover Dam had been banned, in an effort to safeguard the dam from hazardous spills or explosions. However this has not eliminated the threat of a possible attack on the dam, as regular traffic still passes over it and the new bypass bridge will replace the dangerous dam roadway, and reduce the possibility of an attack or accident.
