(Original Caption) New York-In-One-Day Flight Begins Today. Los Angeles, California: Inaugurating the fastest long-distance daily air passenger schedule in the world, Transcontinental and Western Air, this morning, started its new coast-to-coast service between Los Angeles and New York. The distance is 2,626 miles and will be covered in 24 hours and 42 minutes. Eleven stops will be made on the route, requiring two hours and fifteen minutes all told, for refueling, checking of motors, weather bureau orders, and transfer of intermediate point passengers, mail and express, included in the total elapsed time. A distinguished group of fliers who were at the airport to see the first plane off on new schedule [are] left to right, Gladys O'Donnell, Captain Frank Hawks, Eddie Rickenbacker, and Art Goebel.
