Rain drenched Kolkata witnessed a massive rally by students and teachers of Jadavpur University and other colleges and universities in and around Kolkata-India.They have been demanding resignation of vice chancellor Mr.Abhijit Chakraborti who had called the police to break up a student protest on Tuesday night. Earlier students were demanding a free and fair enquiry into an incident of sexual harassment of a female student that took place inside the campus last month. Students were protesting outside the vice chancellor's office on 16th September night. Students held the vice chancellor and other officials hostage for some 6-7 hours. Then around 2 am in the night the vice chancellor called in the police to break up the protest. Police action on agitating students inside the campus left over 30 injured.
