Roger Bannister, the first man to crack the four minute mile, easily retains his Mile title in the Amateur Athletic Association championships at the White City Stadium, London. In an otherwise slow race he finished in 4 minutes 7.6 seconds, Bannister clocked 53.8 seconds for the last lap. 06/05/2004 Sir Roger Bannister is reliving the moment he made sporting history today, Thursday 6th May 2004, with a day of celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the first sub-four-minute mile.
