Japan's Abandoned Sculpture Garden
TOYAMA, JAPAN - DECEMBER 23: Statues depicting what are believed to have been real people are displayed in a statue garden on December 23, 2018 in Toyama, Japan. The park was built in 1989 at the request of an affluent local businessman named Mutsuo Furukawa and is home to around 800 sculptures depicting buddhist deities and what are believed to be real people who Mr Furukawa knew during his lifetime. The park was reportedly rediscovered by a Japanese photographer after falling into a state of neglect following the death of Mr Furukawa and has now become a tourist destination for Japanese and foreign visitors.
