Shimla Hills are Burning - More Forest Fires
[UNVERIFIED CONTENT] This is summertime in India. Temperatures are touching 45 degree celsius in the hot plains. The lower ranges of the mighty Himalayas have pine trees while the deodar trees grow a little higher. Where ever there are pine trees in great abundance, forest fires are a major hazard for the ecology and environment of the area. The tinder dry pine cones and needles just conflagrate and burn on their own and the fire spreads quick...as they say like ..wild fire.... Night time you can see ribbons of fire arcing over the mountain side and advancing in straight lines. Here is one from a slightly up close perspective of the hillside of Dagshai which is about 12 kms from Solan. The fire was moving with great speed and pop hiss and crackle and one could feel the heat on the face.
