Jaguar crash

Two Jaguar jets in the Gulf. The pilot of an RAF Jaguar escaped when his plane crashed in the North Sea. He ejected safely and was picked up by an RAF Sea King helicopter. * 17/9/01: The US and Britain are assembling a formidable array of firepower in the Gulf ahead of expected military reprisals for the World Trade Centre terrorist atrocities, including Tornado F3s, Tornado GR4s as well as four Jaguars. A naval task force, led by aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious, will also involve a total of 8,500 personnel, 24 ships and two nuclear submarines. 08/01/03 : two Jaguar jets in the Persian Gulf, that the RAF is to send to the Gulf region later this month as part of a squadron strength formation, the Ministry of Defence confirmed. The 14 aircraft, including Tornados and Harrier GR7's, are due to fly out to the key Western ally of Jordan - which borders Iraq - to take part in annual exercises with the Royal Jordanian Air Force. It follows the announcement yesterday by Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon of the deployment of a powerful amphibious task force - with two carriers and 3,000 Royal Marine commandos - and the call-up of 1,500 reservists.
