Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher Mobbing a Red-Tailed Hawk - stock photo

I watched a pair of Blue-Gray Gnatcatchers mob this Red-Tailed Hawk for about 15 minutes last Saturday. I was amazed at how much this one put up with before it flew off. This was actually the third stop in the mobbing. First I watched it being attacked by mocking birds, then by a black and orange bird I haven't identified yet, and finally by this pair. After this it was chased to at least two more perches, but moved too fast for me to keep up with. I ended up feeling quite sorry for the hawk.
