Reflection Canyon, Six Years Later - stock photo
This place is no longer a secret, but it was not long ago. As one of its earliest visitors (March 2013), I was able to feel its remoteness and solitude in its entirety. No trail, and no people in this area during my hike six years ago. All I replied on was Mr. Rainer Grosskopf's trail description and a GPS. I was went into the wrong way multiple times, and had to make adjustment to avoid those deep canyons. I ended up a 10-mile hike on the way to the canyon, much longer than the 8-mile track from the 'standard' route now. Difficult, but I got a sense of solitude and enjoyed the fun of adventure.
Things have changed dramatically over the years. There are trails to the canyon, and the place was no longer quiet. Surprisingly, there were around 30+ hikers camping around the canyon when I visited it last week. There were people flying drones (which was obviously against the rules), making quite a noise. Perhaps all places on this planet will end up like this one day.
