The Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway is a 28 km (17 mi) expressway connecting Delhi, the national capital of India and Gurgaon, an important satellite city of Haryana. The expressway is a part of National Highway 8 (NH 8) a 4-6 lane National Highway in India. It is the busiest highway in the subcontinent, as it connects the national capital Delhi to the financial capital Mumbai, as well as important cities Gurgaon, Ajmer, Udaipur, Ahmedabad, Surat, Jaipur, Kotputli and Vadodara. The total length is 1,428 km (887 mi).
Both the expressway and the National Highway are a part of the Golden Quadrilateral project, undertaken by National Highways Authority of India. The Golden Quadrilateral is a highway network connecting many of the major industrial, agricultural and cultural centres of India. A quadrilateral of sorts is formed by connecting Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai, and hence its name.
