David Cameron visits British troops at Kandahar airbase: general views and interviews; Cameron interview SOT - On soldiers facing a pay freeze / doing all we can to help armed service personel / military are exempt from increased pension contributions / on British troops coming home from Afghanistan / proper programme and handover of control / on not making it to Camp Bastion - On withdrawl by end of 2014 if Afghan forces are not ready / Afghan National Army is being built up month after month / very confident that the situation on the ground will be the right one / at the end of 2014 we won't be here in a combat role / people at home and troops need to know there is an end point / the right end point is end of 2014 / confident things will be in a better place / decrease in number of insurgent attacks / at the end of 2014, our troops will have been in Afghanistan for 13 years, I do think there is a point at which it's right to say it's now for the Afghan army, police and government to take over / everybody in Afghanistan wants that as well as people back home / on military covenant and pay cap - we have doubled operational allowance, we have exempted them from pension increases, cutting their council tax, pupil premium, establishing a cabinet committee to make sure every element of government policy is in favour of supporting our armed forces personel and their families
