Senate Democrats at Press Briefing Discuss Gorsuch Nomination

Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse tells reporters at a weekly briefing that the Senate has experience when it comes to considering the nomination of Tenth Circuit Judge Neil Gorsuch for the Supreme Court. Whitehouse says there is experience when five Republican appointees to the court run with five to for decisions which he calls quite remarkable, describing three buckets of issues which Gorsuch must not reanimate the margin. Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal begins with his experience clerking for Supreme Court justices, expressing what he calls increasing skepticism based on his reading of Gorsuch record on the bench. Blumenthal says president trump me attacked the judiciary when he does not like their decision, but he does a disservice to democracy because in independent judiciary means the Constitution remains the law of the land, that he will continue to ask tough questions and demand responses from Gorsuch.
