(Original Caption) Ernest Hemingway, 61-year-old Nobel Prize winning novelist, shot and killed himself July 2, 1961 in Ketchum, Idaho, with a shotgun at his palatial home. Hemingway, shown here autographing a copy of best-seller "The Old Man and the Sea" in Havana, Cuba, was found lying in his foyer beside a double-barreled .12-gauge shotgun. One barrel had been fired. Sheriff Frank L. Hewitt sait "There is absolutely no evidence of foul play".
