Heracles' battle against the Amazons was his ninth labor, ordered by Eurystheus to steal the girdle of Queen Hippolyta. While initially peaceful, Hera intervened by spreading rumors of kidnapping, causing the Amazons to attack. Hercules killed Hippolyta in the resulting battle, taking the girdle and returning home. There are different versions of the fight and the subsequent exchange of the belt. Scene from Greek mythology.
