INDIA-BANGLADESH-DAS
Bangladeshi Hindu Bidhu Bhusan Das tells of his ordeal after fleeing Bangladesh to shelter with relatives in Habra, some 45 Kms north of Calcutta 27 October 2001. Hundreds of Hindu families have fled Bangladesh and sneaked into India through the porous border claiming "torture" by Bangaldeshi Muslims since the return of an Islamist-allied government led by Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in Dhaka. Das claimed that his home was looted after the election by BNP activists and that he was beaten and then thrown in a canal.
