RABAT , MOROCCO - DECEMBER 30: Kasbah of the Udayas on December 30, 2017 in Rabat, Morocco. Rabat’s medina is a 12th-century Kasbah of the Udayas and the city’s oldest quarter, which was built during the Almohad dynasty. Also called Kasbah les Oudaias. The tightly packed neighborhood has evolved through the centuries whitewashed and blue-based houses built by Moroccan refugees from Spain during the 16th century. The Oudayas Kasbah is today one of Rabat’s major landmarks. Perfectly combining historical sites with modern establishments you will find the capital’s most hip cafés and shops. Rabat was added to the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List on July 20, 2006 in the Cultural category. (Photo by Athanasios Gioumpasis/Getty Images)
