Jomo Kenyatta
Kenyan statesman Jomo Kenyatta (1891 - 1978) attends the Fifth Pan-African Congress, held at Chorlton-upon-Medlock Town Hall in Manchester, 15th - 21st October 1945. After a spell in prison for his alleged leadership of the Mau Mau Rebellion, Kenyatta became the first president of the Republic of Kenya in 1964.
