Lignite-fired power station
30 November 2018, Brandenburg, Peitz: Cracks have formed on the bottom of a drained carp pond, while in the background water vapour rises from the cooling towers of the Jänschwalde lignite-fired power plant of Lausitz Energie Bergbau AG (LEAG) into the murky morning sky. This fishpond is drained every year in October to get the carp out of the water. After a few weeks, cracks form in the dried out and muddy bottom of the pond.
