Edward Teller Gesturing While Speaking at H Bomb Hearing

(Original Caption) The camera angle makes it look as is Dr. Edward Teller, (L), who played a key role in development of the Hydrogen Bomb, is thumbing his nose during a Senate Disarmament May 14th in Washington. Teller and Dr. Jerome Wiesner, (R), Provost of Massachusetts Institute of Technology and former Science adviser to Presidents Kennedy and Johnson, offered differing opinions on the need for the Safeguard Antiballistic Missile Defense System, which would have a "stabilizing influence" on the arms race and would be preferable to development of more aggressive weapons. Wiesner said it would force Soviet Russia to develop bigger and more sophisticated weapons.
