The damaged bow of the Japanese naval ship Kurama is observed in a searchlight early on October 28, 2009 after it collided with a South Korean container ship in a channel near Kitakyushu in Fukuoka prefecture, southern Japan. One crew member aboard the 5,200-tonne escort ship Kurama was slightly injured fighting a fire after the evening collision on October 27, and the 7,400-tonne container ship also caught fire but the blaze was immediately brought under control, with none of its crew members injured.
