Songs From Miners To Keep Warm
Two cold Welsh miners sing to keep warm outside the NUM (National Union of Mineworkers) headquarters in Westminster Bridge Road, London, where they are protesting against the threatened closure of the pits. They are Herbert Powell (smaller man in front) of Llanharan Colliery, and Keith Harries (holding his shoulders) of the Celynen South Pit, Monmouth. A deputation of Welsh and Lancashire miners arrived in London that day to take part in a mass deputation, and marched from the Elephant and Castle tube station to the NUM headquarters.
