(Original Caption) Vincent Perschetti is shown with his controversial work "A Lincoln Address," which was withdrawn from last week's official inaugural concert because "it might embarrass President Nixon" had its world premiere" performance by the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra on January 25th. The controversial work is a narration of president Lincoln's Second Inaugural Address, viewed by some as a statement on war. However, the address is best known for its last paragraph describing a peace "with malice toward none, with charity for all." No definite reason was ever given for cancelling the composition from the inaugural concert.
