Gunung Padang Megalithic Site, Indonesia - stock photo

The Gunung Padang megalithic site is constructed of large amount of columnar basaltic stones. It is located Karyamukti Village, Cianjur district, West Java, Indonesia. It is situated on top of a hill at 885 above the sea. At the site there are 5 distinct terraces situated in the top of the hill. From the base the hill raises up to 95 m. Although the five terraces are clearly man-made, there are strong indications that large parts of the densely forested hill slope are also covered with stone slabs, which if confirmed would make it the largest prehistoric structure ever made.
