Gazans caught between two fires due to Israel’s relentless attacks and forced displacement (2)

GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - SEP. 21: Displaced Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are caught between the two fires that they fled from death but forced to live in overcrowded tents without infrastructure, food, or water due to Israel’s occupation with its ground attacks.Palestinians have been fighting against displacement, which they describe as “slow death”, for almost two years because of Israel's relentless assault on Gaza.Israel has surrounded Palestinians with attacks from land, sea, and air, and is increasingly restricting their movement through occupation.Even though Palestinians know there is no “safe place” in Gaza, they are still forced to migrate to places that the Israeli army claims are “safe.”Israel, which leveled the city of Gaza with airstrikes last month, began ground attacks on September 15.Most Palestinians in the city, home to approximately 1 million people, refuse to leave, saying “both are a kind of death.”Those who flee to survive, have to live in very primitive and difficult conditions in their new locations.Israel approved Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan to gradually reoccupy the Gaza Strip in August, beginning with Gaza City, home to about 1 million people.Since Oct. 7, 2023, Israel has been carrying out a genocide in Gaza, which has so far killed over 65,300 Palestinians, most of them women and children. The onslaught has displaced hundreds of thousands alongside a blockade on humanitarian aid that has led to famine and claimed the lives of at least 442 Palestinians, including 147 children.
