Morocco welcomes thousands of tourists each year to its colorful and traditional world
CASABLANCA, MOROCCO - MAY 23: In Casablanca, Morocco, which has one of the largest ports in Africa, the Muhammad V Square and the Hassan II Mosque, the Oudaya Kasbah in the capital city Rabat, the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V; the city of Chefchaouen, famous for its blue-painted houses and streets are among the places to be seen.
Located in the northern region of Morocco and on the edge of the Rif Mountains, the walls, doors and windows of the houses in Chefchaouen, whose cultural history dates back to the 8th century BC, resemble evil eye beads with their blue-white colours.
Although the reason for the predominance of blue and its shades in the city is not known exactly, it is observed that the belief that these colors protect the people or keep insects and flies away is widespread. (Footage by Sebnem Coskun /Anadolu Agency via Getty Images)
