RWC 2019 Organizers Announce Official Mascots
TOKYO, Japan - Jan. 26: The organizers of Rugby World Cup 2019 in Japan unveiled on Friday the official mascots of the tournament.
The pair of red and white creatures are called "Ren-G," whose images are driven from Japan's mythical lions "shishi." They were selected from 50 designs submitted by 10 groups or individual experts including renowned designers, according to the organizers.
The pair are named "Ren," the parent, and "G," the child. They represent the five core values of rugby -- integrity, passion, solidarity, discipline and respect-- and will appear in events to boost the momentum prior to the World Cup that will begin on Sept. 20, 2019.
