Senator Kennedy explains Medicare annual fee schedule as regional

Louisiana Senator John Kennedy says in floor remarks that Medicare takes in all kinds of factors into consideration in deciding how much to pay a doctor for an earache, looking at things like the diagnosis but would pay less for an earache and for heart surgery depending on the procedure that a doctor had to use, its fee schedule looks at things like the cost of maintaining a practice, rent, supplies and support personnel while trying to take in consideration the costs of medical malpractice so the point was that a doctor treating him in Baton Rouge for an earache will not receive the same fee that a doctor for example in New York will receive.
